Becoming a member of the Kendal and South Westmorland Beekeepers’ Association links you into a friendly, local network of both experienced and new beekeepers. You will receive a copy of our quarterly magazine ‘The Prevailing Wind’ containing local beekeeping information and details of all our meetings. Membership of the BBKA can be tailored to meet your needs, whether you are someone wanting to start keeping bees, an active beekeeper or a retired beekeeper; both the BBKA and the K&SWBKA has something to offer you.
| Type of membership | Suitable for | Yearly subscription |
|---|---|---|
| Registered Members | This involves a beekeeper paying a capitation to the BBKA; they will receive full membership of the BBKA including BBKA insurance (covering Public and Product Liability). They will receive the BBKA News. They will also have full membership of K&SW BKA. | £19.00 |
| Partner Members | This involves an additional beekeeper (age 18 or over, living at the same address) who also handles and/or is involved with aspects of beekeeping paying a reduced capitation in addition to the beekeepers’ capitation so that they too have membership of the BBKA and the benefit of insurance. They will not receive additional copies of BBKA news. Partner members have full membership of K&SW BKA events without paying any extra subscription to us, only one copy of the ‘Prevailing Wind’ will be sent to a household/address to minimise our costs. | £8.58 |
| Country Members | This type of membership is suitable for those who do not have bees yet or who have, perhaps, retired from beekeeping and who therefore do not require BBKA insurance. It enables them to keep in touch with the BBKA and K&SWBKA and receive newsletters etc. | £12.50 |
| Associate Member K&SWBKA | K&SWBKA only (no BBKA membership, no insurance). Suitable for members of other beekeeping associations who would like to be in touch with K&SWBKA. | £6.00 |
